Jon Baldwin, Managing Partner

Jon is responsible for METROSAGE day-to-day operations. As a founder, Jon also continues to be a contributor in the development and delivery of METROSAGE’s products and services, leveraging his expertise in measurement sciences and his breadth of experience in system architecture and design.

In addition to being a founder of METROSAGE, Jon is a Principal Member of Technical Staff at Lawrence Livermore and Sandia National Laboratories. Prior to his National Laboratory work, Jon was Chief Operating Officer of GEOMET Systems Inc. where he directed the design of software for direct computer controlled CMMs. Prior to his appointment as COO, Jon worked for MultiMetrics Inc. as a principal designer of the GEOMET software system, the first-ever software for retrofit to existing CMMs.

Jon has been a member of various committees including the DMIS National Standards Committee and has been a contributor to the CAM-I DITS project. He has also authored more than 90 technical publications.

Jon holds a doctorate from the University of Illinois and a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Thomas More College.

Kim Summerhays, Technical Director

Kim provides technical insight and guidance for METROSAGE solutions. Kim’s knowledge and experience covers a broad spectrum including physical chemistry, software engineering, and history of natural science. His research focuses on measurement uncertainty, error propagation and industrial automation.

During his career, Kim designed one of the first languages for creating CMM inspection programs from CAD designs. Other experiences include researching correction of thermally-induced errors in machine tools as a Senior Member of Technical Staff at Sandia National Laboratories as well as positions at GEOMET Systems Inc. and MultiMetrics Inc. where he developed software applications related to coordinate measurement. Kim has also held various other positions in dimensional metrology as a software developer and consultant.

As a founder of METROSAGE, Kim also holds a full professorship in Computer Science and Chemistry at the University of San Francisco and previously served as Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Kim was a member of the DMIS National Standards Committee and has been a principal investigator with the Consortium for Advanced Manufacturing –
International (CAM-I), focused on the development of advanced concepts for sampling and data analysis for CMMs. Kim has also authored more than 30 technical papers.

Kim holds a doctorate in Physical Chemistry from the University of California, Davis, was a postdoc Fellow at the University of California, Irvine and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of San Francisco.

Daniel Campbell, Software Director

Daniel, METROSAGE’s resident software guru, has extensive experience in software algorithm design and implementation. His diverse experience spans a variety of programming languages and operating systems. Prior to joining METROSAGE, Daniel worked at Raytheon Electronic Systems, broadening his knowledge while developing a variety of key software solutions.

Daniel holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of San Francisco where he was also a member of the USF Systems Research Group.

In addition to Daniel’s software expertise, he is also fluent in Spanish and Italian.
